About the job:
As an EHS Program Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for data center construction in Malaysia and other areas in APAC. This role requires a strong understanding of EHS regulations and best practices, as well as the ability to work effectively with developers, contractors, and stakeholders. You will be responsible for identifying and mitigating environmental and safety risks at construction sites, and ensuring a smooth transition from design to construction to operations. You will also conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with regional strategy.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management
  • 5 years of experience in EHS management
  • Experience in the construction industry in Malaysia
  • Fluency in English and Malay
Good to have:
  • Certification from Board of Certified Safety Professionals, NEBOSH, or equivalent agency
  • 15 years of experience in construction or similar EHS-related industry
  • Experience communicating with Federal, State, and Local Authorities regarding EHS issues
  • Experience in working with international stakeholders and concurrently managing multiple projects
  • Experience in managing construction works within the operational space
  • Experience in working in a construction/high-tech environment

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 5 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) management, including management of EHS compliance for industrial facilities.
  • Experience in the construction industry in Malaysia.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Malay fluently in order to interact with contractors and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification from Board of Certified Safety Professionals, National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or equivalent agency.
  • 15 years of experience in construction or similar EHS related industry.
  • Experience communicating with Federal, State and Local Authorities regarding EHS issues.
  • Experience in working with international stakeholders and concurrently managing multiple projects.
  • Experience in managing construction works within the operational space.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for data center construction in Malaysia and other areas in APAC as needed and be an EHS advisor to Google stakeholders. Work with developers and contractors to align our EHS values and expectations to deliver the projects safely. 
  • Be responsible for identifying and mitigating environmental and safety risks at construction sites, and the transition from design to construction to operations.
  • Conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with our regional strategy, including analyzing EHS business risks and identifying, describing, and estimating efficiencies to be gained through established programs.
  • Lead, monitor, and track the development and ownership of the EHS program for construction oversight and data collection up until Operational/Facility Ready (FR) delivery.
