The Role
Moonbug is seeking an Income Tracking Coordinator, a role based in our London office in the heart of Camden Town. At Moonbug, you will be working with some of the biggest brands in family entertainment at one of the largest children’s record labels in the world.
This role is a key support function within the Income Tracking & Royalty Analyst Team, reporting to the Income Tracking Manager. We are seeking a highly organised, forensic, and detail-oriented Coordinator to support our global income tracking and royalty operations. This individual will be responsible for the processing, reconciliation, and analysis of royalty statements, assisting in the discovery and recovery of unpaid or underpaid revenue, and ensuring the accuracy of our data. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, excellent data management skills, and a meticulous approach to financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Data Extraction, Cleansing, and Ingestion: Extract key data from royalty statements, cleanse and standardize it, and input it into the royalty accounting system; assist in exploring automated ingestion processes.
- Monitoring and Reconciliation: Actively track incoming royalties from all sources (PROs, DSPs, sub-publishers) and perform detailed reconciliations of statements against internal records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Investigating Discrepancies: Assist the Income Tracking Manager in the discovery and recovery of unpaid or underpaid revenue; investigate discrepancies and support communication with licensees, PROs, and sub-publishers to resolve payment issues.
- Reporting and Analysis: Create and maintain regular departmental tracking reports; assist the team in analyzing royalty data to identify trends, top-earning songs, and potential areas for income growth.
- System Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance and updates of royalty accounting software and internal databases, ensuring data integrity.
- Documenting Processes: Create and maintain documentation for all key income tracking tasks to ensure consistency and business continuity.
- Stakeholder Support: Act as a point of contact for income tracking-related inquiries from other departments, songwriters, and publishers.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Provide general support to the Income Tracking team on ad-hoc analysis projects and administrative tasks as needed.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1+ years of experience in music royalty processing, income tracking, or a similar finance/data role within the music industry.
- Strong understanding of basic music copyright principles (e.g., compositions vs. master recording) and their corresponding royalty streams (e.g., mechanicals, performance, digital).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, Power Query and advanced formulas) is essential.
- A forensic and detail-oriented approach to data, with a proven ability to deliver accurate results while handling high-volume data files.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage large workloads, prioritize demands, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to spot trends, "join the dots," and draw meaningful conclusions from data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Active interest in keeping up to date with the music industry developments, digital innovation, and a willingness to adapt and acquire new skills as new technologies emerge.
We'd Love It If You Also Had
- A familiarity with Music Copyright Administration, and an understanding of international collection society (PRO/CMO) structures and their distribution processes.
- Experience with Royalty Accounting Software (Curve, Maestro etc).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g Looker Studio, Metabase).
- An understanding of YouTube CMS and Content ID.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, (Monday.com etc).
