Job Description

Are you passionate about life below the ocean surface? Do you want to make your mark on future marine projects? At Rambøll, we are looking for a dynamic senior consultant for our team for marine environmental impact assessments. If you are ready to take responsibility and drive innovative projects while strengthening the company's growth and development, this position is your opportunity. Become an important part of our ambitious Impact Assessment department and help shape a sustainable future for the world's oceans. Explore your potential – we need your expertise!

Your new role

Become part of Rambøll's Danish environmental assessment unit, where you will work with a passionate team of approximately 80 dedicated employees across offices in Jutland and Ørestad, Copenhagen. With us, you will be a key player in the marine team, which handles an exciting range of projects, from offshore wind farms and submarine cables to harbor expansions and much more.

Your role as a senior consultant in the marine environment is crucial to ensuring that environmental considerations are effectively integrated into the development and implementation of these projects. We expect you to be motivated by sharing your expertise and engaging in the team's growth through sparring and project management. Seize the opportunity to work on exciting projects that shape the future of our marine environment.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Project participation: Monitor project development and progress to identify and manage any challenges or changes that arise along the way. Proactive monitoring is crucial to maintaining project momentum and ensuring that schedules and quality standards are met.
  • Team development: Engage in sparring with colleagues and promote the development of the team's overall competencies. By sharing your knowledge and experience, you strengthen both the team and the quality of the projects, creating a stronger and more competent team.
  • Project management: Contribute to the management of marine environmental assessment projects from start to finish. This includes developing detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and evaluation after project completion – in this way, we identify learning points and areas for improvement, which ensure continuous improvements in future projects.
  • Preparation of subject-specific chapters: Author and contribute to subject chapters in connection with marine environmental impact assessments (EIAs), screenings, and other environmental assessments. The chapters are essential for documenting environmental impacts and ensuring well-founded decisions.
  • Quality assurance: Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with national and international environmental legislation and practice. Regular quality control and compliance checks ensure that projects comply with all relevant legal requirements and maintain high standards.
  • Environmental assessments: Perform assessments in accordance with the Environmental Assessment Act, including adaptations to the Habitats Directive, Marine Strategy, and Water Framework Directive. The assessments are crucial for understanding the potential environmental consequences and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Application and authority processing: Prepare applications and handle authority processing to ensure a smooth process from application to approval. This is crucial for starting projects on time and minimizing administrative delays.

Your workplace will be Aarhus, Vejle, or Ørestad in Copenhagen, but you will collaborate closely with colleagues across the country, all of whom have extensive experience in environmental assessment and planning. They will ensure that you are continuously challenged at a high professional level, so you constantly develop. In addition, at Rambøll, you can draw on over 17,000 competent colleagues spread across most of the globe.

Your competencies:

You are a trained biologist or have a similar relevant education. You have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience and possess strong competencies in the following areas:

  • Marine environmental issues: Deep understanding of issues related to impacts on the marine environment, including underwater noise and the presence of alien substances. Your expertise helps to identify and mitigate negative impacts on marine ecosystems.
  • Regulatory directives: In-depth knowledge of the Environmental Assessment Act, Marine Strategy Directive, Natura 2000, Habitats Directive, and Water Framework Directive. Your expertise ensures that projects comply with relevant legislation and contribute to sustainable management of marine resources.
  • Project management: Ability to lead and oversee complex projects from start to finish, including development of project plans, schedules, and budget management. Your experience ensures that projects are carried out efficiently and in accordance with established goals.
  • Environmental impact assessments: Experience in preparing environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for marine projects. This includes analyzing potential environmental impacts and developing strategies to minimize damage to marine ecosystems.
  • Communication skills: Good communication skills in both Danish and English, which are crucial for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, external stakeholders, and authorities. Your ability to clearly and precisely convey complex information strengthens the project's and team's success.
  • Problem-solving: An open and solution-oriented mind, able to tackle unforeseen challenges and find creative solutions. You help ensure that projects can be adapted and optimized continuously.

What we can offer you:

  • Opportunity to work on exciting and diverse projects that are not only professionally stimulating but where you also help to make a real difference.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the professional development in the department and training of the next generation of talented consultants.
