As a Senior Network Engineer at Google, you'll be a key player in designing, building, and maintaining Google's massive global network. The role requires expertise in network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting, along with programming skills (C++, Go, or Python). Experience with large-scale network planning is highly preferred.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with planning and designing large scale networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

he US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and thought leadership to improve the whole life-cycle from concept and design, to qualification and validation through deployment, operation, and optimization.
  • Multiply the effectiveness of the team through design reviews, technical mentoring, and career development support.
  • Scale systems sustainably through tools and automation, and evolve systems by driving change that improves reliability and velocity.
  • Lead development of Google’s Enterprise Network infrastructure through published engineering design documents and specifications. Lead the requirement analysis, engineering design, and solution development of Google’s enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Work with Partner teams to analyze requirements or potential problems and proactively develop solutions and policy recommendations.
