Onward Search is hiring a Social Media Creative Director for an on-site, direct hire opportunity in Whittier, California. This role involves leading the strategic and creative direction of all social media initiatives, shaping the brand’s visual identity, driving innovation in social-first storytelling, and managing high-impact digital content creation. The director will work closely with internal teams, cross-functional partners, and external agencies, combining visionary thinking with hands-on leadership.

Must Have

  • Lead creative direction for all social media content across major platforms
  • Develop and execute social-first campaigns aligned with brand identity and marketing goals
  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a creative team of designers, copywriters, and social content creators
  • Collaborate with Brand, Product, and external social agencies for cohesive social output
  • Test, analyze, and optimize creative assets based on KPIs and audience insights
  • Oversee multiple creative projects simultaneously, ensuring high quality and timely delivery
  • Contribute to the evolution of design systems and style guidelines
  • Maintain consistent tone, messaging, and aesthetic across all social touchpoints
  • Source, manage, and collaborate with influencers, photographers, and external creators
  • Stay current on cultural trends, platform algorithms, and evolving design practices
  • Manage content calendars, campaign timelines, and digital asset production workflows
  • 10+ years of experience in social media and digital design with a strong portfolio
  • Minimum 5 years in creative direction, digital content leadership, or social media creative management
  • Proven success developing branded social content across Meta, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-performing or viral social media content
  • Expertise in visual design principles and social-first creative strategies
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma
  • Strong communication skills to articulate design rationale and collaborate across teams
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a strategic, forward-thinking creative approach
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

In this role, you’ll lead the strategic and creative direction of all social media initiatives for our client, a fast-growing organization near East Los Angeles. You will shape the brand’s visual identity across platforms, drive innovation in social-first storytelling, and manage high-impact digital content creation. The ideal candidate will combine visionary thinking with hands-on leadership, working closely with internal teams, cross-functional partners, and external agencies. This position operates during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, with a salary range of $130,000 to $150,000.

Social Media Creative Director Responsibilities:

  • Lead creative direction for all social media content across major platforms including Meta, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube, and others.
  • Develop and execute social-first campaigns aligned with brand identity, marketing goals, and audience engagement strategies.

Social Media Creative Director Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in social media and digital design with a portfolio demonstrating diverse, high-quality social executions.
  • Minimum 5 years in creative direction, digital content leadership, or social media creative management roles.
  • Proven success developing branded social content across Meta, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-performing or viral social media content.
  • Expertise in visual design principles and social-first creative strategies.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, and related platforms; SEO knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design rationale and collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a strategic, forward-thinking creative approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting lead-generation websites and familiarity with Webflow development is a significant advantage.

Eligibility requires working over 30 hours per week on an assignment lasting at least 10 weeks.
