Job Description

This Software Engineer II role focuses on Device Integrity at Google, involving advanced anti-abuse analysis. Responsibilities include system engineering, researching abuse detection methods (anti-tamper protections, ML, signal development), tamper proofing and attack resilience (obfuscation), and potentially reverse engineering or black market research. You'll collaborate with product teams across Identity, YouTube, Android, Solarwinds anti-abuse research, and Trust & Safety analysts. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in anti-abuse/security/cryptography/mobile ecosystem, compilers and obfuscation techniques.
  • Experience in applied machine learning or data mining.

In this role, you will conduct analysis of advanced anti-abuse. the work routine will involve system engineering, researching new ways to detect abuse (anti-tamper protections, ML to catch more abuse, signal development), tamper proofing and attack resilience (obfuscation), and depending on your interest, also other things (reverse engineering, blackmarket research, scientific publications).

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Work with product teams using our technology, stakeholders in Identity, YouTube and Android, with Solarwinds anti-abuse research, and Trust and Safety (T&S) analysts.
  • Exhibit comfort working with other technologies (Java, Python).
