As a Staff Software Engineer, Security/Privacy at Google Cloud, you will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, influence and coach a distributed team of engineers, and manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You'll design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions focused on data privacy and security. This role requires a strong background in software development, data structures/algorithms, testing, launching software products, and software design and architecture, with a minimum of 8 years of experience, and specifically 5 years focused on building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management). You will work on critical projects, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as Google evolves. The role involves facilitating alignment across teams and ensuring project success.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • 5+ years experience with data privacy/security
  • 5+ years testing and launching software
  • Strong data structures/algorithms skills
  • Experience with software design and architecture
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in related field
  • 3+ years technical leadership experience
  • Experience in complex, matrixed organizations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 5 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
