Job Summary

OTR Group is seeking a Workplace Relations Advisor to join their diverse retail network. This role involves shaping and delivering industrial relations strategy, providing expert guidance to leaders on workplace relations, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation, modern awards, and enterprise agreements. The advisor will resolve complex workplace matters, manage underperformance and fitness-for-work cases, and foster a positive culture of collaboration and fairness within the organization.

Must Have

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing expert guidance on workplace relations matters and drafting clear, compliant documentation.
  • Interpret and apply employment legislation, modern awards, and enterprise agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Partner with managers to resolve workplace disputes and operational issues.
  • Advise on underperformance matters and develop tailored performance improvement plans.
  • Manage fitness-for-work cases, liaising with medical practitioners and drafting appropriate documentation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business, or Law.
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations.
  • Advanced understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), modern awards and Enterprise Agreement Interpretation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence across all levels.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.

Good to Have

  • Preferred 3 years’ experience in Workplace/Industrial Relations.

Job Description

Are you passionate about employee relations and creating positive workplace outcomes? We are seeking a Workplace Relations Advisor, who will make a real impact across our diverse retail network.

You will play a key role in shaping and delivering our industrial relations strategy across a diverse workforce. In this position, you’ll provide expert guidance to leaders and stakeholders, ensuring compliance and driving operational improvements that support business performance. Your specialist advice will help resolve complex workplace matters, foster positive employee relations, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and fairness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing expert guidance on workplace relations matters and drafting clear, compliant documentation.
  • Interpret and apply employment legislation, modern awards, and enterprise agreements to ensure compliance in areas such as wage accuracy, rostering, and leave entitlements.
  • Partner with managers to resolve workplace disputes and operational issues, including interpersonal conflicts, rostering concerns, and safety breaches, while preparing supporting documentation such as discussion records.
  • Advise on underperformance matters and develop tailored performance improvement plans that drive positive outcomes.
  • Manage fitness-for-work cases, liaising with medical practitioners and drafting appropriate documentation to support business and employee needs.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk matters, including those that may lead to termination, to the Specialist P&C Advisor or Head of Workplace Relations.
  • Champion a fair and consistent approach to workplace relations, fostering a positive culture and ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business, or Law.
  • Preferred 3 years’ experience in Workplace/Industrial Relations.
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations in accordance with legislation and policies.
  • Advanced understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), modern awards and Enterprise Agreement Interpretation
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence across all levels.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
