Job Description
As an Android Engineer at Sporty, you'll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing Android applications, releasing new app versions to various regions, developing new features, and designing user interfaces for significant global sporting events. You'll work collaboratively with a globally dispersed team, ensuring a top-tier user experience for tens of millions of weekly visitors. Your work will span all levels of mobile app development, from networking and user interfaces to data modeling, synchronization, and concurrency management. The tech stack includes Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Jenkins, Glide, Git, ExoPlayer, and MVVM.
Must have:
- 3+ years Android development experience in Kotlin/Java
- Experience with mobile app architecture, networking, data handling
- Proficient in multithreading and memory management
- Excellent English communication skills

About The Role
With tens of millions of visitors every week, we strive to be the best in the industry for our users. Youâll be responsible for taking ownership of our existing Android applications implementing new features, building new UI pages, testing the applications and releasing into new regions to align with our growth plans all whilst working with a Globally spread team.
Your Day-to-day
- Take ownership and responsibility of our existing Android applications
- Facilitate and release new versions of apps in several new regions
- Build new end to end features on our platforms
- Create new UIs to stay on top of various sporting events Globally (World Cup, Football Euros, Olympics etc)
Our stack: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Jenkins, Glide, Git, ExoPlayer, MVVM
You should apply if you have
- 3+ years experience writing clean code in Kotlin or Java for Android applications
- Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between
- Working on mobile application architecture, including data modelling, networking and data synchronization and concurrency
- Experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management
- Sporty is an English speaking working environment, so we are looking for English speakers
Our interview process involves 3 main stages:
- Hackerrank test (Maximum of 90 minutes)
- A call with a member of our Talent team
- Final interview with our Android Engineering team (Youâll meet with 3 engineers on separate occasions for 45 minutes each)
We can confidently say that we have a feedback loop of 24-48 hours on all stages, so youâll never be left in the dark when youâre in process with us.
