Job Description

As an Engineering Manager for Gemini Code Assist at Google, you'll lead a team developing GenAI-based developer tools to boost productivity. This involves building server and middleware code interacting with Google's LLMs. You'll collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product managers from Google Cloud AI and Google Research on challenging machine learning solutions. Responsibilities include managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables; growing the Warsaw team and fostering a collaborative culture; leading design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software; participating in design reviews; and triaging and resolving product or system issues. The role demands strong technical and leadership skills, managing engineers across multiple teams and locations, and overseeing large-scale international projects.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience (Python, C++, Java, JavaScript etc.)
3+ years technical leadership, 2+ years people management
Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
Lead team in software design, development, testing, and deployment
Collaborate with researchers and product managers

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science
Experience in complex, matrixed organizations

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

You will develop server code as well as middleware code which implement functionalities that interact with Google's latest LLMs. You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and product managers from both Google Cloud AI and Google Research, developing challenging machine learning solutions that will contribute directly to Google's product excellence.

Responsibilities

Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Help grow our presence in Warsaw, and grow and sustain a healthy and collaborative culture for the new team.
Lead a team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
Participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
