Abstraction is a game development studio aiming to deliver cutting-edge game experiences. We’re known for our work on technically demanding projects on world-class IP like Halo, Dune, Mass Effect and Baldur’s Gate, and have worked on more than 60 shipped titles to date.  
The studio is proud to count its partner companies such as BioWare/EA, 343/Microsoft, Funcom, Sega, Paradox Interactive, Perfect World and Aspyr Media. Besides co-development and adaptation projects, we’re working on our own original IP projects.

As our (Junior) Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions. In addition, you will ensure that the company's financial practices are sound, compliant, and aligned with overall business objectives. Finally, you will be responsible for the month closing process.

What Will You Be Doing At Abstraction 

  • Financial Administration: Be responsible for financial administration duties, including: management of creditors, debtors, and the general ledger, as well as ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial operations. 

  • Month-end and Year-end Close: Support in the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. 

  • Financial Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of the annual report.  

  • Financial Analysis: Analyze monthly and quarterly financial data and disclosures to identify trends and opportunities for financial performance improvement. 

  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensuring all internal reports and procedures comply with accounting standards.  

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, to predict future financial performance. 

  • Management reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial management reporting and support with the project administration system. 

  • Ad Hoc Projects: Contribute to special projects and initiatives, such as process improvements, system implementations, and strategic analyses. 

  • Process Improvements: Streamline and enhance administrative processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity. 

     

What You Will Bring Along 

  • Relevant HBO/BSc in finance or/and accounting 

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience 

  • Based in the Netherlands (hybrid function)

  • Advanced knowledge of related disciplines (accounting, external reporting, tax) 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial software (Exact) 

  • Resourceful and proactive attitude, hands-on mentality 

  • Fluent verbal & written communication skills in English (Dutch nice to have!) 

  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Detail Oriented & Analytical
