Lead / Only Front End to Full Stack Engineer / Web Developer - Social Gaming

(Ideally 70-80% front end, could be up to 100% front end)

Location: you can either work remotely or in the company's office in San Jose.

Engineers at the company work an average of roughly 45 hours/week; it is not a sweat shop like stereotypical gaming companies, but it is not a 9-5 job either.

The company is founded by industry leaders in the gaming space who previously created one of the largest online gaming platforms in the world. The company’s product focuses on community, chat / text messaging, and social gaming. The product is for mobile only now and is in the process of expanding to a desktop product that will be on equal footing with the mobile products.

The company raised a seed round of funding in 2016 and now has 6 years of runway. Revenues have been growing rapidly even during the recession. The company has about 50 employees and 38 engineers.

The company will pay very competitive salary; they are targeting a base salary of $150-200k, plus yearly bonuses, plus equity which could be very valuable.

Job Responsibilities:

- Being the technical owner of a high traffic website (over 10 million monthly users).

- Working with the tech stack of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, and a front end framework that you will determine.

- Ideally 70-80% front end, could be up to 100% front end.

- Spending about 30% of time on SEO.

- Independently designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality web applications.

- Improving maintainability.

Qualifications:

- Agnostic about what technologies you use. Selecting what technologies to use based on what is best for the job rather than what you are already experienced in.

- At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar role in the consumer web space.

- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

- Passionate about creating intelligent solutions to complex problems.

- An owner's mindset. Able to thrive with little to no direction and project management.

- Experience with SEO.

- Strong in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js).

- Strong understanding of web development best practices and design patterns.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Nice to have:

- Golang, kubernetes, WebGL.

- Skilled in front end performance tuning to make pages load quickly.
