Job Details
Jam City is seeking a talented and experienced Senior 2D Artist to join our Cookie Jam team at our Carlsbad Studio! As a Senior 2D Artist, you will play a critical role in perfecting the visual style and be a key contributor to one of our most beloved titles. The ideal candidate will bring a diverse portfolio that demonstrates advanced skills in concept art, production design, and a keen sensibility for mobile gameplay.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Art Director and Art Lead to ensure that concept art aligns with the product's creative goals.
- Create and visually represent the player’s experience from beginning to end for specific game features
- Create concepts for characters, environments, and props.
- Develop storyboards and animation sequences.
- Design visual effects.
- Create comprehensive style guides.
- Produce polished and game-ready 2D assets that strictly adhere to the game's art direction.
- Provide the marketing team with compelling illustrations and promotional art for Cookie Jam.
- Collaborate with the broader art team to brainstorm and execute creative ideas, ensuring high fidelity from initial concepts to final 3D assets.
- Implement art assets into Unity.
- Regularly interface with the Art Director, Lead Artist, Producers, and other department leads to manage deadlines and project goals.
- Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to junior artists, potentially overseeing outsourcing processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as a concept artist with a strong focus on mobile games.
- Strong background in character design.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently conduct research and reference materials that inspire and support visual solutions.
- Strong understanding of foundational art principles, including volumetric form, composition, perspective, color theory, and rendering.
- Expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling, animation, and cinematic principles.
- Proven ability to solve visual problems with versatility through quick sketches and iterations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A passion for playing games and an understanding of all aspects of game development.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation for this role. The range listed is just one component of Jam City's total compensation package for employees, which may also include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, certifications, location, business needs, or market demands. This range is based on a full-time position. This range may be modified in the future. In addition, Jam City provides a variety of benefits to employees, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan, life, disability, and accident insurance. Pay Range: $90,000 — $123,000 salary per year.
