Role Summary
To work as part of our Specialists Team to provide 3D/Parametric modelling support to engineering projects
Responsibilities
Core Functions
- Undertake 3D modelling in preparation for Wind Engineering Projects (Wind Tunnel Testing and Computer Simulations)
- Build 3D surface models of selected portions of cities/sites that constitute the surrounds of the project site based on available information (drawings provided by architects, Google Earth)
- Build 3D models of the building of interest with the required level of detailing based on information received by the architects
- Undertake 3D modelling in preparation for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Projects:
- Build 3D models of internal spaces for various building typologies, with level of detail specified by CFD Team.
- Build 3D models of complex topography, i.e., riverbeds and coastal settings for Water CFD simulations.
- Prepare different types of models based on the stage of the project and on the scenario to be analysed
- Liaising with and retrieving information from WSP Wind Engineering Team and WSP CFD Team in London.
- Assist project set up by agreeing drawing strategy, type and size of drawings and drawing numbering with project engineer, and suggesting methods of 3D model production to ensure efficient methods of working
- Agree priorities and deadlines with the UK Project Manager
- Follow QA, document control, archiving & CDM guidelines on all work
- Work with project team members on specified aspects of the project
Key Competencies / Skills
Mandatory Skills
- Experience in 3D modelling, Rhinoceros, .stl files, wind tunnel models
- Experience of working on several projects across different sectors
- Good working knowledge Revit, able to use al standard functions
- Good understanding of the role of consultant engineers and how to support this
- Clear understanding of industry standards
