Job Overview
DPS Games are looking for an exceptionally skilled Designer to work directly for the Creative Director in the creation of the next big free-to-play title from Wargaming, the company that brought us World of Tanks and one of the strongest free-to-play PC game companies in the world.
You will be a hardworking self-motivated team player who is able to understand and translate theory into practical and easy to understand design documentation, as well as bring your excellent verbal and written skills and be able to both take and offer critique when fully participating in group discussions. Ideally you will bring your deep understanding of World of Tanks.
In this position, you will be working within a multidisciplinary team of developers in a global community and will have the ability to both share your hard-earned knowledge and continue to develop your skill set by learning from your teammates.
Reports to
The Game Designer reports to the Creative Director and will be based in Guildford, UK.
What will you bring?
- Documentation of all areas of the game with specific guidance from the Creative Director for clear communication to stakeholders and external studios
- Work on game labs for ‘tuning’ of the battle game
- Maintain the ‘balance spread sheet’ for the prototype combat game
- Take part in play sessions, document and provide constructive feedback
- PowerPoint construction and outline presentations on features and scope for the game.
- User experience feedback on the core game elements
- Build up a knowledge of the game worlds Intellectual property
- Collaborate with analysts and evaluate metrics, user testing, and other sources of feedback, to identify issues
What are we looking for?
- Someone with an in-depth understanding of World Of Tanks
- Experience in “games as a service” and/or free-to-play experience
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of game design and game development concepts
- Ability to work within restrictions to solve problems as they occur
- Actively contribute to growth of the studio. Lead by example, including demonstrating a willingness to give and receive feedback, collaborate with others to share techniques, ideas, and contribute to a positive working environment
- Willingness to take initiative and responsibility to increase the quality of the game and health of the team
