Located in Vancouver, BC, 2K Sports Lab is a small collective being formed within 2K Games that is driving the research and development of future sports interactive entertainment programs. Within this group, speculative work will be done on future sports games with an eye towards taking the magic of 2K’s publishing and development expertise and applying them to future opportunities.

What We Need
2K is looking for a passionate creative Lead Environment Artist to join our growing team. Having a key role collaborating closely with our Art Director, forging authentic and believable worlds that the players can enjoy for many years to come. Enjoy being responsible for the bigger picture of your field, but still possess a keen eye for details. Finding the little things that will make an everlasting impact for the game.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with Leadership and game design teams to build the look of the environments and contribute to the overall game experience.
- Collaborate with a concept artist pushing the art quality while keeping consistent across all environments.
- Work hands-on by blocking out whole locations to levels with excellent understanding of environmental storytelling and player experience.
- Work in Unreal Engine 5, while actively following development of environment creation and pipelines in the industry while balancing performance.
- Interact with Tech Artists by defining workflows and content pipelines. You will be identifying and setting up standard methodologies for environmental art across the project.
- You are responsible for planning and coordinating your team's work delegating tasks and supporting your colleagues by mentoring and reviewing their work.
- Have the opportunity to Model & Texture a variety of Environment Assets (Hard Surface, Organic, Structural).
What Will Make You a phenomenal Fit:
- 8+ years of experience in the games, film, or animation industry.
- Previous experience leading art teams and experience shipping at least 2 AAA titles in a leadership position.
- Knowledge of Maya, Unreal Engine, Substance Painter/Designer, PBR Workflow, zBrush, and Photoshop.
- Have an understanding of basic architecture with a good sense of spatial composition and proportions.
- Self-starter and independent, able to take feedback and run with it.
- Ability to communicate to Leadership and Production their status, schedule, pace, and needs.
- Follow and collaborate with concept artists.
- Strong communication skills.
The pay range for this position in British Columbia at the start of employment is expected to be between CAD $90,400 and CAD $134,600 per year. However, actual pay offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
