Job Description

Lead Java Developer for a modernization project of core business systems for a large insurance client. The project involves supporting applications running in Kubernetes, decoupling a monolithic application into smaller services, and migrating to a modern technology stack. Responsibilities include technical leadership of a development team, mentoring junior developers, onboarding to client processes, ensuring cloud readiness and integration with Azure APIM and Gateway, collaborating with other teams and the client, and actively applying static and GenAI-based code conversion tools. The role requires strong Java, Spring/Spring Boot, and distributed systems experience, as well as familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, and SQL databases.

Must have:

4+ years enterprise backend system design experience
Strong Java & Spring/Spring Boot knowledge
Deep understanding of enterprise application architecture
Experience with distributed systems & leading distributed teams
Good SQL knowledge; Microservice & Kubernetes experience
PostgreSQL/Oracle/SQL Server experience
Agile & DevOps adoption; Excellent communication skills

Good to have:

Azure & cloud architecture experience
Distributed cache systems experience
GenAI tools or solutions experience

Project description

Modernization project of core business systems for a large insurance client.

The activities include the support applications running in Kubernetes, decoupling monolith application to smaller services and migration to modern technology stack.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Lead Java Developer who can help to perform migration of client platform:

Take over technical leadership of the part of development team

Mentoring of several developers

Quickly onboard to Customer's processes

Ensure Cloud Readiness and integration of Azure APIM and Gateway

Collaborate with other teams and client to find the best solutions

Active applying of static and GenAI based code conversion tools

Skills

Must have

Readiness to work until 8.00 pm CET (no need to do overtimes);

At least 4 years' work experience including enterprise backend system design experience;

Strong knowledge of Java language and Spring/Spring Boot;

Deep understanding of enterprise application architecture patterns;

Experience with distributed systems;

Experience in leading a distributed team;

Good knowledge of SQL;

Familiar with microservice architecture patterns;

Familiar with Containers and Orchestration Systems (Kubernetes/PKS/OpenShift);

Experience with PostgreSQL/Oracle/SQL Server;

Adoption of Agile and DevOps culture;

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have

Experience with Azure and knowledge of cloud architecture patterns;

Experience with distributed cache systems;

Experience with GenAI tools or solutions.
