The Senior Product Manager at Microsoft Security Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) will build strategic partnerships with ISVs to address product gaps, enhance features, and drive innovation in cybersecurity. Responsibilities include serving as an architecture point of contact, collaborating with cross-organization partners, guiding roadmap prioritization, anticipating customer needs, and delivering product feedback sessions. The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, and experience with Microsoft 365 Defender suite, Sentinel, and Security Copilot. This involves working with internal and external stakeholders, managing product integrations, and communicating the product strategy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity, architecture, and product management, along with experience in technical delivery and client management.
Must have:
  • 5+ years product/program management or software development experience
  • 3+ years experience in security operations, threat intelligence, data security
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Defender suite and APIs
  • Advanced knowledge of OS internals and security mechanisms
  • Technical delivery, service delivery, or client management experience
Good to have:
  • CISSP, OSCP, CEH, or GIAC certifications

Within the larger Security Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) organization, our team builds strategic partnerships with ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) to close product gaps, enhance feature areas, and drive innovation. We find and unlock these opportunities by determining which industry leaders to invest in, ensuring product functionalities align, co-launching new technologies and scenarios, and creating a plan to scale adoption. We strive to increase Microsoft’s and ISV’s product positioning with customers, competitors, and analysts.

 

We also leverage partnerships with ISVs to influence our feature roadmap to ensure APIs are core to feature release, minimizing once-off custom integrations, thus ensuring faster adoption as well as a scalable support path.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of recent experience in technical roles in Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, Data Security & Privacy.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 Defender suite of products (MDE, MDI, MDO and MDA), Sentinel, Security Copilot and the associated Microsoft 365 security catalogue of API’s.
  • Advanced knowledge of operating system internals and security mechanisms.
  • 1+ years (or equivalent) of recent technical delivery, service delivery, client management or managed service experience

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly adaptable to change and comfortable pivoting in response to changing circumstances and ambiguous situations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to deliver concise and fact-based communications, both verbal and written, and adapting style and level of information based on audience
  • Ability to evaluate and translate customer needs, requirements, and challenges, and communicating solutions (positioning, technology, value, priority) and improvements to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically to build products to delight customers and partners
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining cross-team relationships and collaboration
  • Knowledge of operating system internals, OS security mitigations & understanding of Security challenges in Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and iOS platforms.
  • Excellent cross-group and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate business need for detection improvements.
  • Knowledge of major cloud and productivity platforms as well as identity systems and related security concerns.
  • Experience with curation of Threat Intelligence.
  • Experience with direct customer communication in a delivery service role.
  • Experience with system administration in a large enterprise environment including Windows and Linux servers and workstations, network administration, cloud administration.
  • Additional advanced technical degrees or cyber security certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CEH, or GIAC certifications
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products, such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, and Entra ID
  • Experience with reporting, analytical, and dashboarding capabilities including Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, and Excel.
  • Ability to go deep in technical/solution areas with drive and a growth mindset.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders leading highly visible initiatives/products/projects at scale.
  • A strategic mindset and vision to anticipate future demands and competitive needs.
  • The ability to partner closely with both internal and external customers and partners.
  • Positive and collaborative team player with demonstrated ability to work on cross-team projects.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and spoken communication for both internal and external audiences, and the ability to adapt to your audience (including senior executives)

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an architecture point of contact into the Microsoft Security engineering teams for select ISVs and be responsible for delivering architecture workshops and design sessions. Collaborate with cross-organization partners to evaluate trade-offs and prioritize investments in alignment with company objectives. Guide roadmap prioritization to achieve success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Proactively anticipate customer needs and market opportunities through quantitative and qualitative analyses. Identify patterns across a portfolio of feature areas and define the impact and prioritization of challenges. Leverage data-driven insights to guide decision-making. You will deliver product specific ‘Outside/In’ sessions through a formal feedback program, this provides our PM teams with an external perspective on their feature’s vision, specifications, and architecture – both for the ISV integrating and the customer using the relevant feature/integration.
  • Provide thought leadership within the team, addressing challenges and fostering a shared vision. Collaborate effectively to gain alignment and buy-in from group managers and other leaders. Rally the team around a common product direction.
  • Collaborate closely with the Feature Product Managers, Business Development, and other customer focused architects to drive the end-to-end product vision. Advocate priorities and resources, working across divisional boundaries to ensure successful execution.
  • Engage with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and early adopting ISVs and Customers, to gather input and garner support for product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Work with Product Marketing, Business Planning, and Engineering to define product integration release criteria, customer acquisition strategies, and content creation. Strategize and lead the transition of ISV feature integrations from private preview to public preview and then to general availability.
  • Communicate the product strategy to both internal and external audiences using various methods, including conference presentations and collaboration with partner organizations. Build consensus and alignment around the product vision.
