Big Red Button (BRB) is looking for a Senior Server Programmer to work on expanding a globally acclaimed Bethesda Games Studios IP in Unity and mobile devices, utilizing their Tapestry Platform. The role involves leading a team and focusing on networked game experiences for mobile and PC. Responsibilities include collaborating with a team, analyzing code, documenting systems, implementing and optimizing gameplay systems for scalability, and coordinating programming priorities. The position offers remote work, with the possibility of relocation later on.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of low-level server development experience.
  • Experience with PlayFab, Google Firebase, AWS, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with relational databases and Redis.
  • Experience with commercial game engines like Unity and Unreal.
  • Experience with C++ and C#.
  • Mobile game development experience on Android and iOS.
  • Experience working with artists and designers directly in game production.
  • Experience in establishing tool development pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Quick and enthusiastic to learn new programming languages and technologies.

Senior Server Programmer

Big Red Button (BRB) is a collection of game industry veterans coming together to make fun and unique games we’d personally like to play on new and established platforms.

A BRB career is about moving fast with a small, focused and experienced indie team finding solutions to unique technical, gameplay and visual problems.

We are looking for an experienced network gameplay programmer to work with us to expand a globally acclaimed Bethesda Games Studios IP in Unity and mobile devices, and using our Tapestry Platform, BRB’s proprietary tools and tech for rapid development of geo-spatial game content. We’re looking for a highly talented and motivated Senior Programmer who will lead a growing team for mobile and PC networked game experiences.

This position will remote work indefinitely. Later, when collocating at our offices is optimal, may elect to continue remote work, or for candidates outside of the Los Angeles area to relocate.

Responsibilities:
● Work with a team of engineers, artists and designers to execute the vision of the creative director and project leads.
● Quickly analyze and dissect large established code bases
● Author detailed documentation of complex technical systems
● Interface with the gameplay and infrastructure teams to implement and optimize new and existing gameplay and player systems that can scale to millions of players.
● Coordinate with studio CTO and producer to schedule programming priorities
● Ability to rapidly prototype and develop network systems for gameplay

Requirements:
● At least 5 years programming experience on low-level server development.
● Experience with services such as PlayFab, Google Firebase, AWS, or similar technologies.
● Experience with relational databases and Redis
● Experience on commercial game engines such as Unity, Unreal, as well as custom technology solutions.
● Experience with C++ and C#
● Mobile game development experience on Android and iOS
● Experience working with artists and designers directly in game production.
● Experience in establishing tool development pipelines (asset pipeline, exporters, etc.)
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to all levels of engineering

Desired:
● Quick and enthusiastic to learn new programming languages and technologies, such as databases and web technology.
