343 Industries is the developer of the blockbuster Halo series of video games. As part of Xbox Game Studios, the Halo franchise encompasses games, television series, novels, comics, licensed collectibles, apparel and more. We are looking for talented new voices to join our team to build the next generation of games and experiences in our award-winning sci-fi universe. If so, the Halo team would love to speak with you about becoming our next Senior Technical Sound Designer.

As the Senior Technical Sound Designer, you will work with audio programmers, the audio team and other disciplines to implement audio into Unreal and Wwise for upcoming Halo titles. You will develop audio pipelines and systems for optional audio solutions for our games. You will learn to work with multiple teams, lead technical audio outsourcing, align with Halo audio direction, and develop audio features.
Roles at our studio are flexible, and you can work from home up to two days a week in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with 343 audio team, designers and programmers to implement, test, and iterate on new audio features and technology
  • Manage Wwise project assets and systems
  • Implement audio systems into blueprints for audio features
  • Help maintain quality audio experiences by providing technical input and expertise
  • Help support the 343 team with technical needs and audio implementation requests

Qualifications


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR Trade School Diploma in Sound Design, Interactive Design and Development, Communications Design, Human Computer Interaction, Multimedia Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience in audio or sound design

    o OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with Audio Kinetic’s Wwise (middleware)
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine (tools)
  • Experience investigating issues and finding answers independently
  • Leadership experience and collaborative team player who values contributing to others success

Audio Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
