Job Description

This Service Engineering role in Tokyo, Japan requires fluency in English and Japanese. Responsibilities include leading the execution of service strategies for New Product Introduction (NPI) of consumer hardware, working with cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements and design for serviceability/repairability, identifying and implementing service improvements, applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) principles, and driving process optimization in manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in manufacturing consumer electrical/mechanical products and strong technical leadership skills. This position offers the chance to contribute to the development of custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
8+ years experience in manufacturing
Fluent English and Japanese
Lead NPI service strategies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Apply RCCA fundamentals
Drive process optimization

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Engineering
Experience setting up manufacturing processes
Experience in technical leadership and project management

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in manufacturing of consumer electrical mechanical related products.
Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to partner with local stakeholders and vendors.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, driving product launches and assembly process optimization within manufacturing operations.
Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.

Responsibilities

Lead the execution of service strategies related to New Product Introduction (NPI) product development of Consumer Hardware (HW) Service Operations and provide product technical support.
Work closely with cross-functional teams in understanding customers requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide products design for repairability and serviceability.
Identify and implement opportunities for NPI service improvement and setting product design for serviceability/ repairability goals.
Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals and collaborate with teams to help them in understanding and applying RCCA tools and principles and analyze failure to resolve issues.
Drive process design, optimization, and qualification activities of a manufacturing process for a component, part, or product.
