Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time-consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

This role is based in Sydney with a hybrid working model to support the hands-on nature of the work. While there’s flexibility in how you structure your time, being onsite will be essential for shoots, collaboration, and maintaining our high standards of video production.

About the role

This is a 10 month fixed-term maternity cover contract, with potential opportunities for transitioning to permanent for the right fit.

We are seeking an innovative and resourceful Social Content Creator and Videographer to lead the creation of engaging and culturally relevant social content for Canva. In this role, you will ideate, script, film, edit, and deliver content that connects Canva’s brand values with trending and platform-specific moments—all with a social-first mindset.

This role requires a deep understanding of the TikTok platform, current social trends, and the ability to set new trends. You’ll work across every stage of content creation, from brainstorming to post-production, and bring ideas to life with speed and quality. If needed, you’ll also represent Canva on camera as the face of our TikTok content.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Social Savvy: With a deep understanding of platforms like TikTok and Instagram, you’ll craft content that drives engagement and builds community.
  • Trend Spotter: You have a keen eye for trends and cultural moments and can creatively translate them into content ideas that resonate with audiences.
  • Creative and Technical: A storyteller at heart with strong filming, editing, and post-production skills to execute high-quality content quickly and efficiently.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

  • Create Engaging Social Content for Canva’s social channel. Turn ideas into scroll-stopping content. Develop and produce Canva’s social content across platforms, ensuring it’s on-brand, culturally relevant, and impactful.
  • Connect Canva to Culture and Trends. Monitor and identify cultural and platform-specific trends, ensuring Canva’s content remains relevant and trendsetting. Link trending moments back to Canva’s product, creating content that resonates with our audience and showcases the brand’s value.
  • End-to-End Content Creation. Independently manage projects from ideation to execution. Rapidly produce content that aligns with the speed of culture and maintains high quality. Script, film, and edit videos designed to hook viewers within the first few seconds and retain engagement throughout.
  • Operate Camera and Editing Tools. Use mobile devices and apps to create visually compelling content tailored to social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and X. Manage exposure, lighting, sound, and green screens to produce professional-quality videos. Apply basic color grading, sound mixing, and editing techniques for polished, final content.
  • Collaborate and Build Relationships. Work closely with Canva’s wider creative team and social media managers to foster collaboration and alignment at every stage of content development. Be a reliable and adaptable partner who can take on feedback and iterate quickly.
  • On-Camera Presence. Be comfortable stepping in as the on-camera personality for Canva’s TikTok content when needed, bringing an authentic and relatable energy to the brand.

You’re probably a match if

  • Proven Experience: 4 years+ of proven experience as a Social Content Creator and Videographer, ideally in high growth environment where change is constant 😉.
  • You have an outstanding portfolio that showcases your flair for storytelling and social-first content.
  • You’re skilled in operating camera, lighting, and video editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro and Da Vinci Resolve), with a strong eye for maintaining Canva’s brand style.
  • You live and breathe social content. Understanding trends and insights across culture and are able to bring them to life through short-form video content. Great taste, with deep knowledge and interest in the latest social trends and best practices.
  • Strategic Thinker: Strong strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute Canva’s brand values, aligned with business goals, in a social-first way.
  • Exceptional Visual Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly to diverse audiences. You brainstorm concepts and facilitate workshops. You give and receive constructive feedback and can clearly articulate how creative work can be improved, mentoring others to deliver their best work.
  • A bias for action. You’re happy to roll up your sleeves and muck in. No task is too small (or big!) if it helps the team around you to be more effective, and rallies them to achieve their goals faster. Proven track record of identifying challenges, developing effective solutions, and implementing process improvements.
  • Comfortable with chaos. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and business needs. You can find solutions even without perfect precedents or direction, and map out a path to clarity and execution. You can work out ways to achieve the impossible and ride through change like a boss.
  • Always striving for your best. You’re a talented creative with amazing design chops, yet you never stop learning and pursuing excellence in everything you do – “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.”
