Job Description

Google seeks a Software Engineer to contribute to Pixel device biometric authentication. Responsibilities include developing next-generation biometric sensor solutions, integrating fingerprint sensors for optimal user experience, evaluating new sensor technologies, optimizing system software performance (memory, power), debugging issues, collaborating with internal and external teams (Hardware/Framework/UX/Trusty), and eliminating friction in the biometric authentication process for Pixel users. The role requires expertise in embedded systems, C/C++, and a deep understanding of biometric authentication technology. The ideal candidate will have experience working with hardware teams, data analysis, and Trusted Execution Environments.
Must have:
  • 2+ years software development (C/C++)
  • 2+ years embedded OS experience
  • Fingerprint sensor integration
  • System software optimization
  • Collaboration with hardware/software teams
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS
  • Experience with Factory teams
  • Data analysis & SQL
  • Trusted Execution Environments
  • System design & algorithm development
  • Low-level systems/hardware interaction

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C/C++).
  • 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with Factory and Hardware teams.
  • Experience with data analysis and SQL and working with Trusted Execution Environments.
  • Experience in system design and algorithm development.
  • Familiarity with low level systems interacting with Hardware/Sensors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work separately and collaboratively.

  • Work on next generation biometric sensor solutions.
  • Design and develop fingerprint sensor integrations to bring the best biometric authentication experience on Pixel devices.
  • Evaluate new sensor technologies and components. 
  • Optimize memory, power, performance and debugging system software issues.
  • Eliminate friction for biometric authentication for Pixel users and collaborate with internal teams (Hardware/Framework/UX/Trusty) and external vendors.
