The Costume Buyer Department is responsible for researching and placing orders for fabrics, notions, and garments for operational/character costumes. Are you passionate about fabric/garment construction and textile sustainability? If so, replenishing and procuring fabrics/garments in this role is right for you. If selected as a Costume Buying intern, you will report to the Costume Buying Area Manager.

This is a full-time 6-month internship (dates are January 11th, 2025, through June 7th, 2025).

What You Will Do

As Buyers, we partner with vendors to carry out timelines, handle production and track deliveries. In this internship, duties include collaborating with the procurement team to source, develop, and acquire fabrics/garments for our cast members. Additionally, you will:

  • Research/source garments, accessories, fabrics, trims, and notions for operational, entertainment and character costumes, ensuring detailed commodity-specific photo documentation
  • Process orders and supervise delivery dates using SAP for fabrics, trims, notions, and garments
  • Be responsible for warehouse inventory and complete withdrawal transactions as needed
  • Participate in local vendor visits, local industry tradeshows and build garment bid packages for specific commodities

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experienced in the Textiles and/or Apparel industry with an understanding of fabrics/garments and their relation to design and construction techniques
  • Solid understanding of international shipping processes and global sourcing
  • Computer proficiency in programs such as SAP, Yunique PLM, SharePoint, and Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as a willingness to learn new programs
  • Confirmed planning and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams and vendors

Education

Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior, recent graduate, or graduate student
  • Major or previous coursework in Merchandising, Textiles, Theater Stage Management or related field

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the requirements below

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Program
  • Available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
