Job Details

The Head of Network Operations is a key leadership role responsible for supervising and leading the organization's sophisticated global network infrastructure. Reporting to Head of Network Products and Services (NPS), this position will lead a high-performing team to deliver operational excellence, ensure network reliability, and drive dynamic initiatives that enhance the scalability and efficiency of network services.

LSEG runs one of the world’s largest networks globally, comprising of low latency high frequency trading systems, real time market data distribution and over 100 points of presence 24/7. Operational resiliency and stability are core given the systemic importance of this critical national infrastructure.

We are seeking a Senior Technology Leader to run our global network operations across 4 product lines in NPS: LAN connectivity, WAN& Edge connectivity, Market & Customer Connectivity and Application Network Connectivity. This is a critically important role as the team supports all business divisions for the group.

We need a motivational leader who can be a role model to the team, support the transformation programs, whilst improving availability and performance of our network.

Senior executive level stake holder management is required, in addition to managing relationships with clients, partners and all internal service groups.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage a large team of internal and scale partner resources responsible for level 2/3 operations of all product lines from NPS globally.
  • Lead global network operations, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of the organization’s critical infrastructure.  
  • Ensure Operational Resiliency across all production network services globally, across all business lines.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize network performance, minimize downtime, and improve fault tolerance.
  • Lead and mentor a distributed team of network engineers and operations professionals, fostering an environment of teamwork, ownership, and excellence. Drive SRE standard processes and the implementation of automation and monitoring solutions to improve operational efficiency and proactive issue resolution.
  • Ensure Operational Resiliency across all production network services, globally, across all business lines
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to align network operations with business objectives, ensuring seamless support for global operations.
  • Lead incident response and problem resolution for critical network issues, driving continuous improvement in incident management practices.
  • Establish and manage metrics to supervise operational performance, ensuring compliance with SLAs and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee vendor operational relationships, and service-level agreements to optimize service delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies in network operations, demonstrating advancements to drive ground-breaking improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience of running network operations for large, global, multi product teams and platforms.
  • Deep technical knowledge and understanding of Network technologies & principals, trends in the industry.
  • Rich experience of managing multiple 3rd party/vendor relationships from operational level.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams, set strategic direction, and drive organizational goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with partners (to C-level), clients, and team members.
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent service, maintaining service level agreements, and continuously improving service quality.
  • Strong entrepreneur skills with a demonstrable ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in network infrastructure, protocols, and technologies, including SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, cloud networking, and automation. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a result oriented demeanor.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL and other standard processes in service management.
  • Bachelor’s degree experience or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in highly regulated/Financial services preferred 

Leadership and Management Experience

  • Solid skills in managing individuals and leading high performing teams in an international, multicultural construct.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading teams globally, spanning across geographies and regions, across Operations
  • Experience of defining strategic goals for functions/divisions and systems for measuring goal attainment.
  • Finding opportunities to partner with external technology organisations, developing the approach and negotiating terms Leadership and management experience at an appropriate level, managing global teams in a matrix environment
  • Ability to influence across multiple functions, business lines in a global matrixed organization
  • Experience of successfully planning and delivering large scale complex technology operations and technology transformation programmes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stake holders and to listen to identified concerns and adapt accordingly
  • Ability to work well under pressure – particularly during an incident.
  • Capability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance; widely viewed as a strong developer of others.
  • Persevere in the face of challenges and exhibit a steadfast resolve and relentless commitment to higher standards, which commands respect from followers.
