Mid-Senior Toon Boom Polish Retakes Animator

We are now on the hunt for experienced Toon Boom Polish Retakes Animators to work on exciting new shows happening: Rick and Morty + a Top Secret Series (also 16+). We are looking for people who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners. The artist will be required from May 2025 until Sept/Oct 2025. 

The roles relate to shows that have been classified 16+ and while the subject matter of the shows are presented in a fantasy or comic context, the production may contain contextually justified strong language, references to sex, drugs, horror, threat, and/or violence of a non-gratuitous nature, which some applicants may find objectionable.  Lighthouse will always seek to reasonably accommodate those applicants with conscientious or other objections, however given the nature of both the role and subject matter, this may not always be possible. PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in our studio in Kilkenny, Ireland, and there is no option to work freelance. 

About the role

As an animation polish retakes artist, you will take the brief from the animation Director. The Animation Polish retakes artist is responsible for all retakes on the assigned project. We really value can-do attitudes here at Lighthouse. If you’re someone who thinks outside the box and looks for solutions, not problems, then you’ll fit right in!

 What you'll be doing

• The Polish Retakes Animator is responsible for addressing the retake notes based on the animation director’s guidance
• Ensure prompt delivery of the animation retakes scenes to a high quality standards and within a reasonable time. Read and follow the notes as instructed
• Deliver technically sound and clearly named and layered scenes to the next department 
• Follow production deadlines for the delivery of the scenes
• Communicate any problems to the animation director, production manager and production coordinator
• Communicate progress of work to the animation director, production manager and production coordinator
• You may be asked to animate shots from scratch when requested by production and you must adhere to assigned quotas

 The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.  

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of Professional Studio experience as a Character animator
• Professional Experience working with Toon Boom Harmony Rigs
• Strong understanding of traditional 2D principles
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
• Attention to detail and ability to find solutions
• Experience with Shotgrid/Flow is considered a plus
• Previous experience as Polish Retakes Animation is considered a plus
