The department R&D IT provides IT Services enabling R&D engineers to do their engineering work. The design environment is an integrated solution and service of Design Infrastructure, EDA application landscape, Design Data Management and Product Creation Applications. The Global R&D IT services are delivered from small number locations, containing on-premise and public cloud Data Centers (full set of services). The objective of R&D IT is to ensure Business Success and Market Leadership for NXP by providing Best-in-Class R&D IT Services and R&D IT Solutions.
This is what you will do as Sr. DevOps Automation engineer:
You like to connect with other people, and you have a clear vision, based on your extensive knowledge, and experience with the Linux Operating System (OS). You stimulate, and have a positive influence on others, to set things into motion. You are passionate about automation, and application development. Last but not least, you have great communication skills, and you usually prefer to create a picture over using words.
Together with the other infra services teams (virtualization and storage) you will be responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing the Cloud and On Premise Datacenter environments of R&D IT Design Infrastructure.
We are looking for:
- A Bachelor degree with around 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Git, Ansible, Satellite, Salt, Python, Docker, and AWS.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux.
- Understanding the internals of a datacenter, knows what the difference is between a “pizza-box-server” and a “blade-server”. Has experience with PXE boot and other modern ways of quick automation deployments of large amounts of servers.
- Has relevant experience in setting up and maintaining hardware/cloud monitoring services with tools like SPLUNK, AWS native tooling or Zabbix. Understands the differences of “hardware in a datacenter” and “instances in a cloud”.
- Knowledge of RedHat OpenShift container platform and/or other relevant Kubernetes based environments.
- An outgoing personality, who likes to connect with other people and teams.
- Setting things into motion and inspiring others.
- Passion for automation and application development.
- A believer and evangelist of DevOps, CI/CD, and Cloud.
- Great communication skills in English.
- Understands security measures are required to protect data, including access controls and encryption.
- Knows that maintaining documentation and keep this up to date is key when managing a service.
Typically you:
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
- Experience as DevOps engineer with strong automation skills in the AWS cloud as well as on premises.
- Strong automation skills preferable using Ansible, Python as well as AWS CloudFormation.
- Certification with RedHat and AWS would be plus.
- Valuing the importance of working together with others in order to be successful as a team and as part of a larger organization.
- Solution-oriented, hands-on, and no “9-to-5 mentality”. Customer-centric and no IT service provider mind set (SLAs, siloed).
- Experienced as a DevOps engineer with IT infra as code (IaC), configuration management tools & CICD.
- Experience with IT service management processes based on ITIL principles and in depth knowledge of tools like Service Now. ITIL process responsibility.
- Has analytical and problem solving skills.
- Quality mindset and strong stills in documenting process and keeping the documentation current and correct.
- Extensive experience working with services like SMTP, Samba, MySQL, Dropbox and Apache.
