Job Details

Since 2018, PortalOne has been laser-focused on its mission to converge the strengths of the games and TV industries to build an entirely new category: hybrid games. To succeed in forging this new category of entertainment, we've built a team of experts from around the world, including Hollywood veterans from Warner Bros. and the Matrix trilogy, to leaders from shows like The Voice, Idol, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. This, paired with our extensive roster of world-class investors, advisors, and games industry professionals, empowers us in delivering this next generation of entertainment.

We want to increase the joy and value of playtime, and realize the full potential of immersive, gamified experiences to entertain, inspire, connect and develop people around the world. Our mission is to be the ultimate destination for hybrid games, in the same way that Netflix is for TV and film, and Spotify for music. In the future, PortalOne will host hundreds of games and shows in every category and genre, offering something for everyone to enjoy. In our early stages, our metrics have shown that we are significantly outperforming industry standards, and we're now looking to increase our velocity and supercharge growth.

Regardless of your role, department, or level, we focus on cultivating a supportive, team-oriented, and collaborative environment. The beauty of joining our team at this stage is that each department is currently relatively small, meaning that you will see your contribution have an impact on our products, and your work will directly influence the evolution of hybrid games!

THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN

As a Writer for PortalOne, you will be key in creating compelling, interactive, and engaging content for our flagship show The Arcade Show--a one of its kind video game show. Think HQ Trivia mixed with The Tonight Show, all set in an exciting, digital world. Every day a new incredible guest enters The Arcade and the audience tries their best to beat their score at one of five incredible games. If they’re successful, they have a chance at winning a real cash prize! You will also contribute to our social media content, working closely with our production team and hosts to ensure smooth production and delivery of each episode. Your writing skills will shape the way our brand communicates, interacts with and entertains our growing community.

YOUR CHALLENGE

You will own the responsibility of delivering engaging and high-quality content for The Arcade Show. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Pitching innovative and compelling episode concepts for The Arcade Show.
  • Writing 6-8 episodes of The Arcade Show per week, each reflecting the unique voice of our brand.
  • Owning all scripted content for the show, ensuring it aligns with our brand voice and audience preferences.
  • Contributing to social media writing and creative needs, helping shape our online presence and engagement.
  • Coordinating with the production team to track and manage prop & wardrobe needs for each episode.
  • Participating in rehearsals, refining and punching up scripts as needed.
  • Revising scripts during production based on producer and host notes, ensuring seamless delivery and adaptation.
  • Organizing and maintaining proper formatting of scripted material, ensuring consistency and readability.
  • Write in-app copy, for example guest bios and push notifications
  • Contribute to long term editorial goals by developing strategic campaigns

WHO YOU ARE

We're looking for a creative, detail-oriented individual with a passion for storytelling and a knack for capturing audience attention. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional writing experience, preferably in live events, comedy, talk shows, gaming, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English with exceptional communication and writing skills.
  • Experience working under pressure and managing edits within tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, including Slides, Sheets and Docs.
  • Willingness and creativity to pitch and develop innovative episode concepts.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience with social media content creation is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing, English, Film Studies and Screenwriting or related field is preferred.
