3D Character Artist

Summary:
3D art is essential for the future of social virtual reality applications and their communities. We are committed to providing Avatars that represent everyone's identity authentically in both current and yet-to-be-invented experiences.
As a 3D Character Artist, you are responsible for exploring, prototyping, and building an ecosystem for avatars that define the future of AR/VR. Your work will make Avatars shine across all experiences, including: VR, mobile and augmented reality. You understand traditional techniques and are keen to apply them to real time workflows. You will partner with other artists, rendering engineers and product managers to deliver impactful products that reach a global audience. Join us in creating the future!
Responsibilities:
- Sculpt high-resolution character models in Maya, Blendery, Zbrush, or Mudbox.
- Create clean, low-resolution game topology, UV’s, and textures.
- Develop prototypes working as a character artist on a medium to large team.
- Work within multi-disciplinary design teams to increase the expressiveness, customization, and diversity of avatars.
- Conceptualize, present and execute ideas within time and technical constraints while actively participating in artistic, creative and technical, problem-solving.
- General 3D asset content creation including modeling, texturing, materials, and lighting, at both mobile and high-end specs.
- Iterate and polish assets in engine (Unity) and publish complete assets.
- Contribute directly to both the conceptual thinking behind and the physical creation of detailed, high-quality products.
- Support the creation of asset pipelines by advocating for character artists in technical meetings
- Build and document templates and best practices that scale to the variety of Avatars supported, with an emphasis on stability and performance
Qualifications:
- 5+ years professional content development experience in either game or film industries, including shipping one or more titles.
- Experience communicating in a multi-disciplinary team, including engineers, artists, and designers.
- Experience with one or more commercial game engines (e.g. Unreal or Unity).
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and asset creation packages like Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Marmoset, Photoshop, etc.
- Able to locate and resolve content and asset performance bottlenecks through performance profiling and optimization.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Prior virtual or augmented reality experience
- Knowledge of emerging technologies
Pay range is $64 - $69 per hour with full benefits available, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K, parental leave, and more. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
