Job Details

"The AI company that's revolutionising Hollywood"

Flawless is breaking the boundaries of traditional filmmaking.

We’re the team behind a groundbreaking suite of GenAI film editing tools, already reshaping how stories are told on screen. From seamless language (Visual) dubbing to emotional performance transfer, our tech is redefining what’s possible — helping filmmakers create without compromise.

But we’re not just innovating on screen. We’re setting new standards for ethics in AI through the Artistic Rights Treasury (A.R.T.), our pioneering rights management platform and consent flows that protects artists and creators in the age of generative content.

Now, we’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering function through the next chapter of growth.

Reports to:
Chief Product/Technology Officer Jim Rivera

The Role
This is a unique chance to build and lead a world-class engineering team at a company with real creative and cultural impact, poised for significant growth. You’ll set the technical vision and lead execution across all areas of engineering, working closely with our founders and cross-functional leaders.

As our Director of Product Engineering, you’ll play a key role in scaling our team—currently 20+ engineers—as we grow 2x, 3x, or even 4x. Along the way, you’ll help define and nurture the engineering culture we aspire to be known for: high-performing, Product focussed, fast-moving, and deeply rooted in craftsmanship.

What You'll do:

Technical Leadership

    • Own the engineering roadmap and execution, partnering with product, research, and operations to deliver world-class tools at speed and scale.
    • Establish and uphold a bar of technical excellence — balancing velocity with quality, and experimentation with stability.
    • Create an engineering culture where problems are framed as challenges, with a solutions first approach to product development.
    • Make smart bets: choosing the right technologies and frameworks that help us move fast today and won’t hold us back tomorrow.

Organisational Growth

    • Scale the team: recruit, hire, and retain top-tier engineers and leaders who elevate the culture.
    • Coach and mentor engineering managers and senior ICs, helping them grow into impactful, autonomous leaders.
    • Design and implement scalable org structures, clear career paths, and strong feedback loops.

Culture Building

    • Cultivate a high-performance, low-ego environment where engineers thrive on ownership and accountability.
    • Champion a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and creativity — where diverse perspectives make the work (and the team) better.
    • Help us become known as one of the best engineering teams to work for in the industry.

Velocity & Quality

    • Measure what matters: establish key engineering metrics (delivery speed, change failure rate, cycle time, etc.) and use them to drive continuous improvement.
    • Identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and remove anything that slows us down unnecessarily.
    • Be the glue between teams — ensuring alignment without adding process bloat.

Who You Are

    • You’ve led engineering orgs through growth from ~20 to potentially up to 80 engineers, ideally in high-velocity product environments.
    • You’re not afraid of ambiguity — you bring structure where needed, but know when to let scrappy teams fly.
    • You foster a mindset where product impact guides technical decisions, ensuring your teams build with purpose and user value at the core.
    • You know how to balance strong technical instincts with the ability to listen, delegate, and empower.
    • You’re passionate about building world-class teams and culture, not just shipping code.
    • You care about speed and quality, and know how to coach teams to achieve both.
    • You think like an owner and act like a founder — pragmatic, ambitious, and always focused on what moves the needle.

Bonus Points If...

    • You’ve worked on creative tools or AI/ML products powered products
    • You have experience navigating complex technical domains with very high bars for security and quality
    • You’re excited to speak publicly about your work and help build our engineering brand.
Interview Process:
At Flawless, our team and interview process want to help you show your best self. We’ll dive into past projects and simulate working together.

Our interview process is set across a few rounds with some casual Zoom (or in-person) coffee in between to get to know each other. Throughout this you will meet with people across the team from your potential manager, cross functional partners and potential direct reports:

- Recruiting Screen: 30-45 minute call with our recruiting team - Over Zoom -(We want to discuss your interests and motivations as well as the practical details and make sure that Flawless would be a good fit for you)

- Hiring Manager Call: 45-60 minutes - Over Zoom - Discussion with our CPO around your past experience and work. Jim will also be able to talk more about the business, our current needs and setup as well as what impact we are looking for in this role.

- People Management and Cross functional Deep Dive: - Two 45/60 minute conversations - with peers and collaborators across the Engineering team. One to dive deep into your experience in building teams, cultures and people management at different levels. The second to discuss your experience in working cross functionally and driving successful outcomes for your teams.

- Team Interview: 1 hour 45 minutes - onsite with our team in London, meeting a variety of potential colleagues. One interview where we will perform a system design exercise with some of the Senior Engineers in the business. (They will be key collaborators of yours and being able to work with them and contribute to design discussions will be key here). The second interview will dig deep into your past experience and aims to understand how priorities work and the behaviours you show personally and advocate for.

- Meet the CEO: 30-45 minutes - on zoom with our CEO Amit - Over Zoom - This is a hugely important role for us, one that we think will be critical in the next phase of the business. Because of that we think it is really important for any candidate to meet with our CEO before joining. Amit will have 1 or 2 questions around how you operate. But this is mainly a chance to meet the CEO, ask any remaining questions and make sure you are bought into the vision of what we are trying to build.

Your Recruiter and hiring manager will be your main point of contact and prepare you for interviews. You’ll meet 8-9 people from across the business. (We make sure that you have time in each interview to ask them questions). If we don’t give an offer, we’ll provide feedback!

Why work at Flawless?
You will be working in an environment based on trust, autonomy and collaboration, and this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a growing company in its most exciting stage of development. You can play a part in shaping the future of a company that’s caring, creative and collaborative.

In addition to this, you'll also receive:
- Autonomy
- A hybrid working environment
- Competitive Salary
- Stock Options
- Extensive Physical, Dental and Mental health cover

Flawless is proud to emphasize an equal opportunity, safe environment for people to do their best work. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
