Leidos is seeking an energetic, motivated, self-starter for this technically sophisticated and challenging engineering position, developing of a variety of naval training and simulation systems such as CIAT - Combined Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer - YouTube .
You will develop real-time, three dimensional graphics systems including a submarine periscope simulation, a submarine bridge simulation, and a ship weapons simulation. This cutting edge visual simulation is used in a variety of naval training and simulation systems, utilized throughout the US Navy. All software is developed in a Linux environment, and written in C++ and OpenGL, utilizing the Unreal graphics engine and various software packages. You will assist in formulating the technical direction for the visual simulations and be a key player in US naval training visualizations. A background in physics or mathematics is useful to implement physics-based visual enhancements. Travel may be required to partner organizations or trainer sites (including Pearl Harbor HI, San Diego CA, Bangor WA, Norfolk VA, Groton CT, and Kings Bay GA) but will account for less than 10% of the job.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or a related technical degree.
Required Experience
You must have U.S. Citizenship and be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government granted security clearance. Employment is contingent on receiving an interim Secret security clearance.
You must have 8+ years of experience developing graphics applications, primarily in C++
You must have knowledge of OpenGL, GLSL, or Vulkan, and some experience with game programming, 3D graphics development, or other visual siimulation systems.
You will be exposed to many different attributes of professional systems development and thus will need an ability to learn and apply new skills, and also share your own expertise with the team to improve our development capabilities
Desired Experience
Experience with development in Unreal Engine 4
Experience with OpenSceneGraph
Knowledge of graphics hardware and GPU internals
Experience with developing for Virtual Reality headsets
Exposure to 3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop, or similar modeling tools
Experience with high performance computing
