Job Description

Actian is seeking Informix Interns for their 2025 Summer Internship Program. This 12-week program, starting June 2nd, offers an incredible opportunity to partner with industry professionals. Interns will participate in structured learning plans, have a dedicated buddy, and work on a focused capstone project to present. The internship includes social events, executive connections, workshops, and the opportunity to travel for a hybrid orientation. Interns will be implementing an extension to the Informix administration tool which utilizes ML based model and the current workload, to recommend configuration changes.

Must have:

Proficient in the Java language
Linux knowledge, and proficiency with Bourne or Bash Shell
Understanding of Relational Database Administration concepts
Understanding of ML techniques for predicting optimum configurations
Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program
Must be legally authorized to work in the Country of Employment

Good to have:

Exposure to Informix SQL Relational Database and Administration
Experience with Angular

Internship Overview

We are looking for interns to join us for our 2025Summer Internship Program! What It’s Like Interning with Us!

▪ Social Events— just because the internship is remote, doesn’t mean we don’t have time for fun! Recognizing the international nature of the program, we prioritize fostering global connection and networking opportunities among all the interns who participate. In the past, we have hosted remote events such as tie-dye shirt event, tiny camp fire—complete with smores(!!!), a murder mystery party, and so much more

▪ Time with Executives— Interns all get a chance to connect with our executive team through panel discussions, 1:1s, Q&A meetings, and events

▪ Workshops & Leader Connects — Interns all participate in Leader Connects where they get to learn more about Leaders in HCLSoftware, as well as workshops geared towards new professionals

▪ Opportunity to travel – we will be hosting a hybrid orientation! For those that are interested in being in person for orientation, we will fly you to your closest resident office.

Position Overview

● Proficient in the Java language

● Linux knowledge, and proficiency with Bourne or Bash Shell, and Linux tools to facilitate automation of tasks

● Understanding of Relational Database Administration concepts

● Understanding of ML techniques for predicting optimum configurations for a given workflow

Capstone Overview

Implement an extension to the Informix administration tool which utilizes ML based model and the current workload, to recommend configuration changes. This page allows an administrator to reviews the recommendations, and apply the changes directly from the user interface.

Responsibilities:

Learn the existing framework created for analyzing Database server performance
Use the ML model to predict the best configuration values
Work with the Angular developers to Present the recommendations and “actions” to apply
