Job Description

As a Power Architect in Platforms Engineering at Google, you'll design and implement innovative power solutions for large-scale point-of-load applications. This involves developing board and chip-level power topologies and control systems for ASICs, FPGAs, and processors. You'll collaborate with industry leaders, analyze performance trade-offs, and ensure successful rollout and validation. Responsibilities include innovating power conversion specifications, leading projects involving new technologies, troubleshooting complex system-level power issues, and providing technical leadership. You'll be a key part of building and maintaining Google's ever-growing computing infrastructure.

Must have:

Master's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
8 years of power converter design experience (or 7 with advanced degree)
5 years of technical leadership experience
DC/DC converter design and debugging expertise

Good to have:

PhD in relevant field
Power system design experience
Data analysis and organization skills
Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals
Power converter modeling and simulation knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience working in power converter design including direct current to direct current (DC/DC) converter design and board bring up and debugging, or 7 years of experience with an advanced degree.
5 years of experience in technical leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in power system design.
Experience with analyzing and organizing data.
Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals and various power conversion designs for data center power delivery.
Knowledge of power converter modeling and simulation.

As a Power Engineer in Technical Infrastructure, you will be in the development of one of the world's growing computing infrastructures. You will work as part of a team to deliver innovative power solutions for point of load application. Your objective will be to design and implement board, chip level power topologies and control for large scale point of load application including application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and processors.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Innovate and design on board power conversion specifications and solutions. Analyze performance, cost, reliability and availability trade-offs.
Lead projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies.
Partner with power industry leaders to lead evaluation and adoption of the most engaging technologies.
Engage cross functionally to ensure successful roll-out, testing and complete validation.
Provide technical leadership and direction while troubleshooting complex system level power issues.
