As a Senior Game Programmer at CD PROJEKT RED, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining the technology used in their games. You will collaborate with designers, programmers, and other specialists to build the technology that drives the project. Daily responsibilities include designing and maintaining core gameplay and engine systems, taking ownership of key gameplay features, developing tools and debug utilities, collaborating with designers, and resolving technical challenges. You will also conduct code reviews, mentor junior team members, and participate in rapid prototyping.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of programming experience in the games industry.
  • Experience shipping at least one game.
  • Expertise in C++ coding and Unreal Engine experience.
  • Strong understanding of game engine architecture.
  • Experience designing and implementing gameplay systems.
  • Solid debugging skills and issue resolution.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Game Programmer to join the CD PROJEKT RED team dedicated to crafting the studio’s first-ever original IP and video game, codenamed Project Hadar. We believe the universe we are creating is one bursting with limitless potential, and we want you to help us broaden and utilize it, making sure it not only matches gamers’ high expectations set by past CD PROJEKT RED titles but exceeds them.

As a Senior Game Programmer in CD PROJEKT RED you will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization and maintenance of our technology used in our games. In this position you will cooperate with designers, programmers and other specialists to build the tech that will drive our project and you’ll have the chance to try out your skills in various areas of game programming.

Daily responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining core gameplay and engine systems.
  • Taking ownership of key gameplay features, ensuring scalability, performance, and quality.
  • Developing tools and debug utilities to streamline gameplay development.
  • Collaborating with designers and other specialists to create engaging gameplay mechanics.
  • Partnering with design, QA, production, and other teams to define technical scope, timelines, and priorities.
  • Debugging, profiling, and resolving technical challenges across large-scale systems.
  • Conducting code reviews and maintaining clean, modular, and maintainable code.
  • Defining and documenting technical standards.
  • Mentoring junior and mid-level team members, sharing knowledge, and fostering team growth.
  • Collaborating on rapid prototyping, R&D, and testing new technologies and ideas.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional programming experience in the games industry.
  • Experience in successfully shipping at least one game.
  • Expertise in C++ coding principles and practices, with experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
  • Strong understanding of game engine architecture, algorithms, and multi-threaded systems.
  • Advanced experience with designing and implementing gameplay systems (e.g., AI, physics, combat).
  • Solid debugging skills and experience resolving complex technical issues.
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio and tools pipelines to enhance developer workflows.
  • Openness to receiving and giving feedback about your work.
  • Mentoring experience. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to taking ownership, setting goals, exchanging knowledge and driving initiatives independently.
  • Passion for professional growth and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Openness for changes & experimentation, high-quality passion and a good sense of humor are appreciated!

Additional Information

Working mode

  • Relocation to Warsaw is required.
  • Office-First: working primarily from the Warsaw studio in a full time or hybrid mode.
