Google's Pixel Biometrics team seeks a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to next-generation biometric authentication solutions. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, code reviews, contributing to documentation, and resolving product issues. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of software development experience (C++, Typescript, Go, Python), 3+ years in testing/launching software, 3+ years in data privacy/security, and experience with user-facing web development and data processing. The role involves collaborating with ML researchers, system engineers, and hardware/software teams to build innovative biometric authentication solutions for Pixel devices.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Typescript, Go, Python), and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g. identity and access management).
  • Experience in developing the user-facing elements of websites and web applications.
  • Experience in data processing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with machine learning (ML) and data processing.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
