Job Description

This Service Engineering role at Google requires fluency in English and Japanese to collaborate with stakeholders and vendors. Responsibilities include leading service strategies for New Product Introduction (NPI) in consumer hardware, working with cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements and design for serviceability and repairability. The role involves identifying and implementing service improvements, applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals, and driving process optimization within manufacturing. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Master's/PhD preferred) and 8+ years of experience in manufacturing consumer electrical/mechanical products. Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication is highly desirable.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing of consumer electrical mechanical related products.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to partner with local stakeholders and vendors.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, driving product launches and assembly process optimization within manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of service strategies related to New Product Introduction (NPI) product development of Consumer Hardware (HW) Service Operations and provide product technical support.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in understanding customers requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide products design for repairability and serviceability.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for NPI service improvement and setting product design for serviceability/ repairability goals.
  • Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals and collaborate with teams to help them in understanding and applying RCCA tools and principles and analyze failure to resolve issues.
  • Drive process design, optimization, and qualification activities of a manufacturing process for a component, part, or product.
