Job Description

This Software Engineer III position at Google's Cloud AI Research team involves developing and implementing GenAI solutions. Responsibilities include writing product/system code, collaborating on design and code reviews, contributing to documentation, debugging, and optimizing ML infrastructure. The role requires experience with core GenAI concepts (LLMs, multi-modal models), ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation), and data processing. Candidates should have a strong background in software development and data structures/algorithms. The team works on research topics with real-world impact, collaborating with product teams to bring innovations to Google Cloud customers.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years software development experience
2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
1+ year experience with core GenAI concepts
1+ year experience with ML infrastructure

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
1 year of experience with core GenAI concepts (LLM, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) and experience with text, image, video, or audio generation.
1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency,)
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Implement GenAI solutions, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to data preparation, optimization, and performance enhancements.
