Job Description

As a Software Engineer in Google's Payments team, you'll design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions for payment technologies. This includes online payments (Autofill), in-store tap-to-pay, and the Google Pay app. The role involves managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You'll collaborate in design reviews, review code, contribute to documentation, and resolve product/system issues. The team focuses on making payments simple, secure, and seamless, also powering money movement between Google and its users/businesses. Responsibilities include writing code, participating in design reviews, code review, documentation, issue triage, and debugging.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year software development experience (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • Code writing, design reviews, debugging
  • Manage project priorities and deliverables
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS or related field
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
