Job Description

This Staff Software Engineer role at Google Ads focuses on AI/ML for recommendations, rankings, and predictions. Responsibilities include designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large-scale software solutions for recommendation systems. The role demands technical leadership on impactful projects, managing project priorities, and fostering alignment across teams. Must have:

8+ years software development experience
5+ years building & deploying recommendation systems
5+ years leading ML design & optimizing infrastructure
Experience with data structures/algorithms
Software design & architecture experience

Master's or PhD in a related field

Experience in complex, matrixed organizations

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of experience building and deploying recommendation systems models (retrieval, prediction, ranking, embedding) in production and experience building architecture in different modeling domains.
5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.
