This full-time, 6-month internship (June 2025 - January 2026) in Orlando, FL, or Anaheim, CA, offers support to Costume Designers and Managers. Responsibilities include design research (historical references, fabrics, styles), creating concept sketches and digital renderings, developing textile patterns, generating technical documentation (tech packs, sewing guides), attending meetings and fittings, collaborating with various resort departments, and creating presentations. The intern will contribute to all stages of the costume design project cycle.
Must have:
  • Adobe Suite proficiency (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Technical illustration and rendering skills
  • Costume development experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Portfolio showcasing design abilities
Good to have:
  • Procreate or similar rendering software experience
  • Experience in theatre, retail, or garment industry

The internship is located in Orlando, FL, and Anaheim, CA.

What You Will Do

As an intern, you will be key in supporting Costume Designers and Costume Development Managers through various stages of the project cycle. Specifically, you will:

  • Conduct design research, including historical references, fabric, and styles, to support the design process
  • Illustrate concept sketches, digital renderings, create textile patterns and artwork to be used in customizing fabrics. Create organizational documents, tech packs, and sewing detail guides. Attend and participate in critical meetings, costume fittings, and rehearsal by taking detailed notes, and supporting the design team. Work with partners across the resort in entertainment and operations.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations, fabric boards, participate in reviews and presentations

Required Qualifications & Skill

  • Experience with the Adobe Suite-Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. As well as procreate or any other rendering tools.
  • Strong digital literacy and willingness to learn new programs
  • Proven experience producing technical illustrations and artistic renderings to be shared with clients and vendors
  • Experience in the theatre, retail, or any comparable garment industry with hands-on experience working in the development of costumes
  • Strong verbal / written communication skills

Education

  • Currently enrolled as a Senior, or graduate student
  • Major or previous coursework in Fashion Design, Costume Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Print Design or related field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
  • Be compliant with appearance guidelines
  • Fully available Sunday through Saturday, for the duration of the internship, 40 hours per week
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
  • Possess a valid US driver’s license and have the ability to operate a company vehicle
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of internship program in Florida

The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL $18.75, and in Anaheim, CA $19.90 per hour.
