As a Lead Network Programmer, you will oversee online and networking development for a new IP at Elsewhere Entertainment. You will architect and implement high-performance network code solutions for client and server game logic, develop networking code to interact with backend systems and online services, optimize network replication, reliability, and throughput, partner with engineering and design teams to build multi-server gameplay systems, optimize and debug game network traffic, and improve existing network architecture.
Must have:
  • 5-7+ years of experience in network programming
  • Excellent debugging and performance analysis skills
  • Experience working on backend game systems or client interface to backend game systems
  • Experience with game networking techniques
  • Deep knowledge of C++ programming and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills

Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Lead Network Programmer to join the development of a new IP.   
 
Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! 
 
As a member of the Engineering department, you’ll oversee online and networking development.  

 

You’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.  

 
You’ll help us by 

  • Architect and implement high performance network code solutions for client and server game logic 

  • Develop networking code to interact with backend systems and online services 

  • Maximize scale by optimizing network replication, reliability, and throughput 

  • Partner with the engineering and design teams to build multi-server gameplay systems 

  • Optimize and debug game network traffic and improve on existing network architecture. 

You’re awesome because you have 

  • 5-7+ years of experience in network programming. 

  • Excellent debugging and performance analysis skills. 

  • Experience working on backend game systems or on client interface to backend game systems. 

  • Experience with game networking techniques. 

  • Deep knowledge of C++ programming and practices. 

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. 

  • The ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team 

  • Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude 

  • Organization methods and the capability to meet deadlines 

  • Comfort with self-critique and accepting outside feedback 

Bonus points for 

  • Experience as a managing engineer. 

  • Experience in other areas of video game technology.
