Microsoft seeks a data-focused Senior Software Engineer to build tools for managing Entra ID tenants at scale. This role involves developing cloud solutions using Azure services (Function Apps, Data Explorer, Cosmos DB). Responsibilities include adhering to modern engineering practices, translating business requirements into technical specifications, reviewing peer work, designing and developing application components, improving service quality and efficiency, troubleshooting, and participating in on-call rotations. The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud solutions and a passion for learning new technologies.
Must have:

We are seeking a data-focused Senior Software Engineer to help us build the tools to manage Entra ID tenants at scale. This role will draw deeply upon your experience coding for Azure services like Function Apps, Data Explorer, and Cosmos DB. While direct experience with cloud identity solutions is not a requirement for the role, we’re looking for SWEs with a passion to learn new technologies and the ability to build solutions around them.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

      o OR equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing cloud solutions.

 

Other Requirements:

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.



Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.
• Experience with document or graph databases - design, querying, performance improvement and some understanding of large data processing.
• Experience in identity management principals
• Experience with designing software via a security development lifecycle

 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to modern engineering practices, effective coding, writing unit test cases, debugging, code reviewing and creating CI/CD pipelines.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and help implement them.
• Review work of peer members, provide solutions to pull team standards forward.
• Design and develop application components and services to support data related processes, presentation, and consumption.
• Deliver software to improve the quality, availability, reliability, scalability, latency, security, resiliency and efficiency of a service.
• Contribute to debugging, troubleshooting complete stack of a service, and drive analysis of outages; write software and build automation to resolve problems permanently.
• Respond to incidents during regular on-call rotations and share details related to incidents and their resolution through post-mortem reports and regular review meetings.
