Job Description

As a Software Engineer Manager for the Gemini API, you'll lead a team in building reliable and scalable infrastructure and APIs for external and internal developers to utilize Google AI models and solutions. This involves leveraging Google AI Studio, understanding Large Language Model (LLM) application developers' needs, and shaping the tools and interfaces they use. Responsibilities include building production-scale features for a new generative AI technical stack, designing low-latency online serving systems, collaborating with product teams to advance LLM techniques, and realizing product impact. You'll need strong technical leadership, people management skills, and experience with software development (Python, C++, Java, JavaScript etc.) and ideally, machine learning model development and deployment.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
5+ years technical leadership
5+ years people management
Build scalable infrastructure and APIs
Leverage Google AI Studio
Collaborate with cross-functional teams

Good to have:

Master's degree in CS
Experience with machine learning model development and deployment
Experience managing a team

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Master degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python).
2 years of experience building products or features that utilize machine learning models through the full cycle of data collection, model development, and deployment.
2 years of experience managing a team.
Experience with innovative ideas and execution.
Experience with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Build reliable and scalable infrastructure and APIs to allow external and internal developers to leverage Google AI models and solutions.
Leverage Google AI Studio for development and experimentation using the Gemini API.
Understand developers of Large Language Models based applications and shape the tools and interfaces to allow them to build their solutions.
Build production-scale features to productionize new generative AI technical stack while also designing and building available and low latency online serving systems for first-party AI models.
Collaborate with partners product areas/teams to advance LLM techniques, and realize product impact.
