This apprenticeship offers hands-on training to become a Body Repair Technician (Panel Beater) specializing in Tesla vehicles. You'll work with experienced technicians, learning to repair, replace, and refit non-structural vehicle panels after collisions. The program includes intensive EV and body repair training, leading to nationally recognized qualifications. Opportunities exist for further advancement to include structural repair. Training blends practical work in state-of-the-art Body Shops and eLearning modules accessible on various devices. Responsibilities include teamwork to meet daily goals, completing Tesla-specific training, maintaining workshop cleanliness, and recording time and expenses. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to learn quickly and efficiently.

What to Expect

As an Apprentice Body Repair Technician (Panel Beater) you will be part of a team that is delivering an impeccable service experience to Tesla Body Repair customers. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll have an opportunity to learn from our team of experienced Tesla Body Repair Technicians and work with vehicles that are revolutionising the automotive industry.  

Throughout your apprenticeship you will go through an intensive EV and body repair training program designed to provide you with the skills and nationally recognised qualification necessary for a successful career with Tesla’s Body Shops.  

This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and experience required to repair, replace and refit non-structural vehicle panels that have been damaged as a result of a collision. For those who seek further career advancement opportunities, there is an option to include structural repair qualifications and experience within their apprenticeship.  

The training programme you will complete includes a mix of practical training and assessment, undertaken in our state of the art Body Shops, and eLearning allowing you to complete theory elements of the programme at your own pace. You will have access to videos, interactive simulations and theory assessments, which can be easily accessed at any time and from any device – mobile phone, tablet or PC.

What You’ll Do
  • Work as a team to deliver results and achieve daily goals 
  • Complete Tesla Specific training 
  • Develop knowledge of all Tesla products, Body Repair Systems, Process and Procedures 
  • Ensure workshop is well maintained 
  • Maintain records of time, expenses and materials 
  • Perform basic body repair work under supervision 
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and Body Repair Centre  


What You’ll Bring
  • Educational experience: Year 12 completion 
  • Eligibility to attend training through MITO 
  • Valid driver's license 
  • Fluent English 
  • Technical acumen – interest in electronics and technology 
  • Excellent Communication skills, Attention to Detail, and Time Management skills 
  • Ability to learn on the job, work quickly, efficiently and follow instructions 
  • Ability to handle shifting priorities and meet deadlines 
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with a team-player attitude 
  • Love to change the status quo and work in high-pressure situations. 
  • Be proactive and take initiative, planning ahead to best support your team 
  • Be self-aware, flexible and open-minded 
  • Possess a combination of analytical thinking, hands-on problem solving, and customer-service mindset 
  • The ability to work with your hands 
  • An ability to use manual tools 
  • Understand the basic need for safety in the workplace

  • Be medically fit to work in a Body Repair Centre
