Job Description

The Casting Director at Disney Live Entertainment is responsible for the full casting process, from auditions and evaluations to contracting and scheduling talent. This includes identifying and recruiting character performers (sculpted role performers, look-alikes, puppeteers, show performers), as well as musical theater performers, singers, dancers, actors, and stunt performers. The role involves significant communication with agents, operational partners, and talent. The position is temporary, with hours fluctuating based on business needs, and may include weekend, evening, and holiday work, along with potential domestic and international travel. Responsibilities include running auditions, creating pre-cast lists, researching talent options, communicating with talent and teams, maintaining reporting data, and monitoring industry trends. Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills are required.

Job Summary:

The Casting Director role within Disney Live Entertainment provides client service in auditions, evaluations, identification, contracting, scheduling, and tracking talent while also communicating with theatrical agents/producers, operational partners, and talent to provide excellent Cast and Guest satisfaction and client service. You will focus on Character performers, including sculpted role performers, look-alike roles, puppeteers, and show performers. The team’s scope also includes identifying various roles including musical theater performers, singers, dancers, actors, and stunt performers.

This is a Casual Temporary role, and working hours will fluctuate based on business need.

Responsibilities/You Will

  • Run auditions, establish pre-cast lists, and provide clear recommendations to creative teams regarding talent selection while balancing operational needs
  • Research talent options for a variety of special events, and present appropriate options to the creative team
  • Communicate with talent and work teams through phone work and email, and create/maintain/present ongoing reporting data related to metrics
  • Monitor industry trends locally, nationally, and internationally to provide/maintain entertainment standards.
  • Work with multiple computer programs
  • You will work weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Potential to travel domestically or internationally

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have

  • 3+ years experience Casting professional talent
  • Experience networking and partnering to complete an objective
  • Experience with written and verbal communication skills to all levels of partner/client
  • Knowledge of performing talent and technical skills in multiple musical genres
  • Experience in music theatre talent and technical skills
  • Experience and training in multiple Dance styles and the ability to communicate effectively with Dance terminology as it relates to coaching audition candidates.
  • Experience managing deliverables while meeting deadlines
  • Experience negotiating, influencing, and decision-making
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically
  • Valid Passport

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Theme Park and/or Cruise Line entertainment coaching, casting and performance.

Required Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • Advanced degree in Art, Entertainment, Music, Musical Theatre, or equivalent

The hiring range for this position in New York is $35.72-$47.88 per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
