Job Description

Lead QA Automation Engineer needed for a large-scale legacy system migration project from HLASM mainframe to a cloud-based Java environment for a major US bank. Responsibilities include collaborating with teams and clients, onboarding to customer processes, leading QA activities (estimations, task decomposition, prioritization, team management), establishing testing approaches (including pre-sales), researching and evaluating testing tools, reporting test results, creating and maintaining test documentation, designing and maintaining automated frameworks and tests, and tracking issues. The role requires strong Java skills, experience leading distributed teams across time zones, and a solid grasp of software testing methodologies.

Must have:

5+ years QA Automation experience
2+ years QA Lead experience
QA Automation framework creation
Java proficiency
Test Approach expertise
Leading distributed teams
Software development lifecycle knowledge
Manual and automated testing
SOAP/REST API testing

Good to have:

Python (middle level)
Legacy/modern platform understanding
Unit Test Frameworks

Project description

We have an ambitious goal to migrate a legacy system written in HLASM (High-Level Assembler) from the mainframe to a cloud-based Java environment for one of the largest banks in the USA.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with other teams and client to find the best solutions

Quickly onboard to Customer's processes

QA Lead activities:

Estimations

Tasks decomposition and prioritization

Team Management

Establish testing approach (including approaches during pre-sales)

Research and evaluate various testing tools

Report test results to management and customer (verbal and writing communication)

Test documentation creation and maintenance

QA activities:

Test design, creation and maintenance of automated framework and tests

Report and track the status of issues in Bug-tracking system

Skills

Must have

5+ years working as a QA in Automation

2+ years working as a QA Lead

QA Automation framework creation from scratch

Java

Strong level

Test Approach

Experience in leading a distributed team (different time zones)

Experience of the formal software development lifecycle, with a solid grasp of manual and automated software testing methodologies and tools

QA Manual

Test Design

SOAP/REST API Testing

Keep to learn new languages/technologies

Nice to have

Python

at least middle level

Good understanding of legacy and modern platform and approach for modernization
