As a NPD Mechanical Design Engineer at Pentair, you will be involved in new product development and product enhancement, working with a cross-functional team to design and implement ideas using CAD models, drawings, product cost estimates, material and product standards, bill of materials, prototyping, and testing of products. You will also support production operations through design for manufacturing and meet with vendors to review product issues, materials, and costs. Must have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • 3 years of experience minimum
  • Knowledge of CAD programs including SolidWorks required
  • Knowledge of GD&T required
  • Design for manufacturing (injection-molding) required
  • Proficiency in MS Office, engineering calculation tools required
  • Ability to meet deadlines with stage gate process experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
Good to have:
  • Experience/knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, or water treatment
  • Experience with finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics

We have an opportunity for a NPD Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Apex, NC team.  Our teams in Apex are focused on sustainable enjoyment of water through design of pool pad products.  We work on a wide range of IoT based product lines that help make pool maintenance and upkeep easy and effortless for our customers.  Our site houses a state of the art test lab for design testing and validation and we work hand in hand with our manufacturing counterparts across North America to bring products to life.  Interested candidates, who meet the requirements below, are encouraged to apply today!  

You will work on:

  • New product development and product enhancement.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to design and implement those ideas using CAD models, drawings, product cost estimates, material and product standards, bill of materials, prototyping, and testing of products.
  • Support production operations as required through design for manufacturing.
  • Meet with vendors when needed to review all related product issues, materials, and costs.

Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • 3 years of experience minimum
  • Design and development focus with experience/knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, or water treatment a plus.
  • Knowledge of CAD programs including SolidWorks required.
  • Knowledge of GD&T required.
  • Experience with finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics is a plus.
  • Design for manufacturing (injection-molding) required.
  • Computer skills including a proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge of engineering calculation tools required (Mathcad, MATLAB and/or similar).
  • Ability to work within and meet aggressive deadlines with stage gate process experience required.
  • Detail oriented, have solid organizational skills, be capable of multi-tasking and have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well with a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to work with international teams.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.
