Job Description

Absolute Sports is seeking a contract NHL Writer to produce 4-5 articles daily, encompassing news stories, game previews, features, and listicles. The role requires assisting in content identification and creation for a global audience. Ideal candidates possess prior sports writing experience (preferably NHL-focused), strong writing skills, and a deep understanding of the NHL, its teams, players, and current trends. Knowledge of hockey analytics is a plus. The position requires accommodating ET hours for game schedules and breaking news.

Must have:

1+ years sports writing experience
NHL knowledge and understanding
Strong writing skills and attention to detail
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Proficient in covering game-related topics

Good to have:

Knowledge of hockey analytics

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

Writing 4-5 articles a day ranging from news stories, game previews, features, listicles etc.
Assisting the team in identifying and creating engaging content for our worldwide audience.

Requirements

Prior work experience in sports writing, preferably with a focus on NHL or hockey coverage.
Open to working ET hours to accommodate game schedules and breaking news.
Proficient in covering game-related topics, including match previews, recaps, game analysis, and league news.
Strong writing skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
A deep understanding of the NHL, its teams, players, and current trends in the sport.
Knowledge of hockey analytics and advanced statistics is a plus.
