Job Description

As a Project Manager at Thales, you will manage and monitor project execution in Defence and Aeronautics fields, from start to customer acceptance. You will also ensure quality standards and contribute to innovative solutions. The role involves managing projects for both national and international clients, requiring advanced English and Spanish language skills, with potential travel. Must have:
  • Engineer bachelor in telecom, aeronautic, naval, or industrial.
  • 3+ years of experience in customer interaction.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary projects.
  • Leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced English and Spanish (oral & written) proficiency.
  • Availability to travel nationally and internationally.
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in aeronautics or defense.
  • Experience in the defense or aeronautics sector.
  • Project Management certification (IPMA C, PMI, PRINCE o PM2).
  • Knowledge of planning tools like EPM or PRIMAVERA.
  • French (oral & written) proficiency.

In Spain, Thales Sistemas is specialized in Command and Control systems, Tactical Communications and Modeling and Simulation addressing solutions in the domain of Defense and Security. Thales is the Spanish leader in tactical Land CIS (Communication and Information Systems) covering all the product life cycle (design, development, production, ILS). Based in Leganés, Thales Sistemas employs a highly specialized workforce of more than 100 people, most of them engineers that participate in the following activities:

  • Communications and Information Systems (CIS) to support Command function and Decision Making:
  • Embedded electronics for military aircraft
  • Tactical Communications
  • Radio Navigation Aids for air traffic

We’re currently looking for a Project Manager focused on Defence & Aeronautics Projects for national and international clients.  

What will you do?

  • Manage and monitor project execution in Defense and Aeronautics fields, from the start to customer acceptances.
  • Negotiate changes in scope or planning, internally and with the customer.
  • Control tasks planning, lead assigned team and manage necessary means to comply with contracted milestones in time.
  • Report project status, detected risks and existing problems in internal and external meetings.
  • Monitor project financial status and predict future evolutions.
  • Coordinate different multidisciplinary teams associated to the project
  • Lead project status meetings, internal and in front of customer.
  • Risks and opportunities management.
  • Assure quality standards in project execution, security requirements and any other applicable standard in the sector, including military ones.
  • Contribute to develop innovative solutions to complicated problems, boosting continuous development.
  • As a general topic, you will be responsible to fulfill Health Occupational requirements described in his/her risk description and Environmental requirement of Thales Group.

To do this, you should have…

  • Engineer bachelor, or equivalent, in telecom, aeronautic, naval or industrial.
  • More than 3 years of experience in customer interaction.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary projects.
  • Leadership, communication skills and conflict resolution competences.
  • Advanced English & Spanish (oral & written).
  • Availability to travel both nationally and internationally, mainly Europe. Business trip frequency will depend on the project.

Any of the following will be valued:

  • Master in aeronautics or defense area or similar.
  • Experience in defence or aeronautic sector.
  • Certification in Project Management: IPMA C, PMI, PRINCE o PM2.
  • Knowledge in planning tools, EPM or PRIMAVERA.
  • French (oral & written).
