Job Description

As a Senior Android Engineer at Sporty, you'll play a key role in developing and maintaining their Android applications. Responsibilities include owning and improving existing apps, releasing new versions across various regions, building new features, designing UIs for major sporting events, and collaborating with a global team. You'll work with technologies like Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and more, ensuring a high-quality user experience for tens of millions of weekly visitors. The role demands strong Android development skills, experience with mobile architecture, and proficiency in multithreading and memory management.

Must have:

3+ years Android development experience (Kotlin/Java)
Experience building and releasing Android apps
Proficient in mobile app architecture and UI development
Expertise in multithreading and memory management
Excellent communication skills (English)

About The Role

With tens of millions of visitors every week, we strive to be the best in the industry for our users. You’ll be responsible for taking ownership of our existing Android applications implementing new features, building new UI pages, testing the applications and releasing into new regions to align with our growth plans all whilst working with a Globally spread team.

Your Day-to-day

- Take ownership and responsibility of our existing Android applications

- Facilitate and release new versions of apps in several new regions

- Build new end to end features on our platforms

- Create new UIs to stay on top of various sporting events Globally (World Cup, Football Euros, Olympics etc)

Our stack: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Jenkins, Glide, Git, ExoPlayer, MVVM

You should apply if you have

- 3+ years experience writing clean code in Kotlin or Java for Android applications

- Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between

- Working on mobile application architecture, including data modelling, networking and data synchronization and concurrency

- Experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management

- Sporty is an English speaking working environment, so we are looking for English speakers

Our interview process involves 3 main stages:

- Hackerrank test (Maximum of 90 minutes)

- A call with a member of our Talent team

- Final interview with our Android Engineering team (You’ll meet with 3 engineers on separate occasions for 45 minutes each)

We can confidently say that we have a feedback loop of 24-48 hours on all stages, so you’ll never be left in the dark when you’re in process with us.
